Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia has launched three new time-definite express delivery services by the Department of Posts, marking a significant step in modernising India’s logistics and parcel delivery ecosystem.
The newly introduced services — 24 Speed Post, 48 Speed Post, and 24 Speed Post Parcel — are designed to offer faster, technology-enabled and reliable deliveries for businesses and individual customers, supporting the government’s broader vision of a “Viksit Bharat.”
The launch event was also attended by Minister of State Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani and senior postal officials, following successful pilot operations conducted across multiple locations.
Next-Day Delivery Across Six Metro Cities
Under the new rollout, 24 Speed Post and 24 Speed Post Parcel will provide assured next-day (D+1) delivery services between six major metro cities — New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Key features of the services include guaranteed delivery timelines with compensation for delays, real-time shipment tracking, OTP-based delivery confirmation, and deliveries on Sundays and holidays, excluding national holidays.
Meanwhile, the 48 Speed Post service will offer two-day (D+2) document delivery between the same metro cities, supported by SMS alerts and end-to-end tracking.
Boost for E-Commerce, MSMEs and Start-Ups
According to the Communications Ministry, the services are expected to strengthen logistics support for e-commerce firms, MSMEs and start-ups by enabling faster parcel movement between India’s leading commercial centres.
The services have commenced with live bookings at select post offices in major cities, with phased expansion planned for Tier-1 and Tier-2 markets.
India Post’s Logistics Transformation
Speaking at the launch, Scindia described the initiative as a major milestone in transforming India Post into a modern logistics and delivery network.
“For more than 170 years, the Department of Posts has connected the nation. Going forward, it will carry the momentum of India’s economic growth,” Pemmasani said.
The initiative forms part of the government’s wider efforts to strengthen India’s logistics infrastructure during the Amrit Kaal period, with an emphasis on speed, reliability and customer-centric delivery solutions.
With the launch of these premium services, India Post is positioning itself more aggressively in the express logistics segment while reinforcing its role as a trusted nationwide delivery partner.
