Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has handed over a record profit share for FY 2025–26 from the CSL–Kolkata Ship Repair Unit (CKSRU) to Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority (SMPA), Kolkata, following the ship repair unit’s achievement of a new milestone by surpassing its turnover target.
The profit-share cheque was formally presented by Shri Jose V. J., Chairman & Managing Director, Cochin Shipyard Limited, to Shri Rathendra Raman, IRTS, Chairperson, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority, during a ceremony held in Kolkata.
CKSRU is a strategic collaboration between CSL and SMPA aimed at strengthening ship repair capabilities and maritime infrastructure along India’s eastern coast. The initiative is aligned with the objectives of Maritime India Vision 2030 and reflects the Government of India’s focus on developing a stronger and more competitive maritime ecosystem.
The latest performance of CKSRU underscores the growing potential of Kolkata as a major ship repair and maritime services hub. By combining CSL’s expertise in shipbuilding and ship repair with SMPA’s port infrastructure and operational capabilities, the facility is contributing to the development of an efficient and globally competitive ship repair ecosystem in the eastern region.
The milestone also highlights the value of institutional collaboration in expanding India’s maritime capabilities and supporting the evolving requirements of the shipping industry.
CSL and SMPA have reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing ship repair infrastructure, operational excellence and maritime services, with the aim of supporting India’s growing maritime sector and strengthening the country’s position as a global maritime hub.
