Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK) has set a new benchmark in container operations by achieving its highest-ever container interchange on a single vessel.
The milestone was recorded during the recent call of SITC Cagayan (Voy. 2612S), which handled an impressive 2,612 TEUs at HDC before sailing on August 12, 2026.
The latest achievement comes just days after HDC had established its previous record of 2,583 TEUs during the call of SITC Makassar (Voy. 2612S) on July 28–29, 2026. The new performance represents an increase of 29 TEUs over the earlier benchmark.
The back-to-back records highlight the growing operational efficiency and preparedness of HDC, supported by close coordination between the port team, terminal operator, shipping line and other stakeholders involved in vessel operations.
The ability to handle larger container parcels efficiently is also an indication of Haldia’s strengthening position in the container trade and its growing capability to support higher-volume vessel calls.
The latest record underscores the focus of HDC on improving productivity, strengthening operational processes and enhancing service capabilities for container shipping lines and cargo stakeholders.
With the benchmark rising from 2,583 TEUs to 2,612 TEUs within a matter of days, HDC has demonstrated that its recent operational achievements are not isolated milestones but part of a broader improvement in container-handling capability.
The latest performance further strengthens HDC’s position as an important container-handling facility in eastern India and reinforces confidence among shipping lines and the wider trade community in its ability to handle larger volumes efficiently.
