The Chennai Port Authority has constituted a Dedicated Port Facilitation Cell aimed at strengthening trade facilitation, improving ease of doing business and addressing operational challenges faced by the maritime trade.

Under Vertical 2, the Cell will focus specifically on Transhipment Promotion, with the objective of positioning Chennai Port as a preferred transhipment hub.

The initiative will seek to simplify processes, improve operational efficiency and facilitate seamless movement of transhipment cargo. The Cell will work closely with shipping lines, terminal operators and other stakeholders to identify operational bottlenecks, develop solutions and explore opportunities to attract additional transhipment cargo to Chennai.

The Transhipment Promotion vertical is headed by Mr. Prasanth Muralidharan, Deputy Director (SM), who has been designated as the Nodal Officer.

The initiative is part of Chennai Port Authority’s broader efforts to strengthen its competitiveness as a maritime gateway and create greater value for the shipping and logistics ecosystem.
