Qatar Airways Cargo has expanded its specialised cargo capabilities by adding VRR’s RGX and RZY containers to its TechLift portfolio, strengthening the airline’s ability to transport sensitive semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
The new equipment is designed specifically for the secure movement of semiconductor fabrication machinery and related capital equipment, which requires strict protection against temperature variations, vibration and physical shocks during transportation.
Specialised containers for sensitive equipment
The newly added RZY 16-foot and RGX 20-foot containers feature integrated climate-control systems and enhanced shock-absorption technology. These features are intended to protect high-value semiconductor equipment throughout the airfreight journey.
Both container types are certified for main-deck carriage on Qatar Airways Cargo’s Boeing 777 freighters, allowing the carrier to provide dedicated capacity for large and sensitive semiconductor equipment.
TechLift expands high-tech cargo capabilities
The containers have been incorporated into Qatar Airways Cargo’s TechLift product, which was launched to address the specialised transportation requirements of the semiconductor industry.
TechLift covers a broad range of semiconductor cargo, including integrated circuits, microchips, manufacturing machinery, capital equipment and testing equipment. The service incorporates specialised handling procedures and equipment designed to minimise the risk of damage.
Supporting semiconductor supply chains
Demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment has increased alongside investment in chip production, artificial intelligence, data centres, automotive electronics and other technology sectors.
The addition of dedicated containers gives Qatar Airways Cargo greater flexibility in handling large and high-value equipment while supporting more reliable transportation between semiconductor manufacturing hubs.
The move also highlights the growing importance of specialised air cargo solutions for technology supply chains, where equipment can have extremely high values and strict handling requirements.
With the latest addition to TechLift, Qatar Airways Cargo is strengthening its ability to provide secure, climate-controlled and shock-protected transportation for semiconductor manufacturing equipment across its global network.
