BW LPG Limited (BW LPG), a leading owner and operator of LPG vessels, has announced that its 52%-owned subsidiary, BW LPG India, has entered into an agreement to sell the 2007-built BW Birch for continued trading.

The sale is expected to generate a net book gain of approximately US$37 million and net cash proceeds of around US$64 million, on a 100% basis. The vessel is currently employed under a time charter agreement and is scheduled for delivery to the buyer by mid-November 2026 at the latest.

According to BW LPG, the transaction represents a value equivalent to approximately US$248 million for a newbuilding, in line with the recently announced sale of BW Elm.

Kristian Sørensen, CEO of BW LPG, said the transaction reflects the company’s continued execution of its fleet renewal programme and its ability to capitalize on strong second-hand vessel market values.

The sale forms part of BW LPG’s broader strategy to renew its fleet while taking advantage of favourable asset values in the second-hand market.
