AM/NS India has secured a 30-year concession from the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) to mechanise and operate the CQ-III berth for captive dry bulk cargo handling. The project will have an annual handling capacity of 10 million tonnes.
The concession has been awarded to AMNS Paradip Logistics Private Limited, a special purpose vehicle of AM/NS India. The facility will primarily handle iron ore pellets produced at the company’s nearby pellet plant for shipment to its Hazira steel facility in Gujarat.
Under the project, AM/NS India will develop a fully mechanised conveyor system connecting its pellet plant complex directly to the CQ-III berth, along with modern cargo-handling infrastructure. The system is expected to streamline cargo movement and improve operational efficiency.
The project is also aligned with the government’s push to promote coastal shipping as a fuel-efficient and environmentally sustainable mode of freight transport. The direct coastal movement of iron ore pellets from Paradip to Hazira is expected to strengthen AM/NS India’s logistics network while reducing reliance on land-based transportation.
The long-term concession is expected to support the growth of Paradip Port as a major industrial and cargo-handling hub while strengthening AM/NS India’s supply-chain infrastructure on India’s east coast.
