Interasia Lines is set to strengthen its India–East Africa network with the launch of its new India–East Africa Service (IEX), establishing a direct container shipping link between major ports on India’s west coast and key gateways in East Africa.
The new service is scheduled to begin operations in September 2026 and will operate on a 35-day round-trip rotation. Interasia Lines will contribute one vessel to the joint service deployment.
The IEX rotation will cover Nhava Sheva – Mundra – Dar es Salaam – Mombasa – Nhava Sheva, directly linking India with Tanzania and Kenya. The service is expected to provide exporters and importers with additional shipping options and more direct access to growing East African markets.
The new connection comes amid increasing competition among carriers to expand India–East Africa trade links. Other carriers, including HMM, COSCO Shipping and Pacific International Lines, are also strengthening services between the Indian subcontinent and East Africa, reflecting rising demand along the trade corridor.
By adding IEX to its network, Interasia Lines aims to broaden its presence in Africa-related trades while supporting growing bilateral cargo flows between India, Kenya and Tanzania. The service is also expected to offer shippers improved connectivity through two of India’s major container gateways, Nhava Sheva and Mundra.
