Hapag-Lloyd will omit the scheduled Salerno, Italy, call of BARCELONA EXPRESS voyage 85W37 on September 8, 2026, as part of measures to recover the vessel’s schedule, according to a customer advisory from the carrier.
The omission affects the MCA service, which links Mediterranean ports with North America. Salerno is an established call on the service, connecting southern Italy with Hapag-Lloyd’s wider Mediterranean and transatlantic network.
Hapag-Lloyd said the change is being made specifically for schedule recovery reasons. The carrier has not indicated that the Salerno call is being removed permanently from the MCA rotation.
For export cargo affected by the omission, Hapag-Lloyd said shipments will be loaded on the first available vessels to maintain the best possible routing and transit times. Customers will receive revised booking confirmations showing the updated loading vessel.
Shippers have also been advised to update their shipping documentation in line with the revised vessel arrangements. The carrier is directing customers requiring further information to its local customer service teams.
The latest change follows other temporary adjustments on the MCA service in Italy. In August, Hapag-Lloyd announced that BARCELONA EXPRESS voyage 85W33 would omit Salerno, Livorno and Genoa as part of schedule-recovery measures, while another MCA vessel, LIVORNO EXPRESS, also operated with a revised rotation.
The repeated adjustments underline continued efforts by the carrier to restore schedule reliability on the MCA network while minimising disruption to cargo flows through Italian gateways.
