WestJet has appointed AVIAREPS as its cargo general sales agent (GSA) in India, strengthening the Canadian airline’s cargo sales and commercial presence in the country.
Under the agreement, AVIAREPS will represent WestJet Cargo in India and support cargo sales activities, customer engagement and market development. The appointment is expected to help the airline expand its reach among freight forwarders and shippers across the Indian market.
India is an increasingly important air-cargo market, supported by growth in pharmaceuticals, electronics, engineering products, perishables, e-commerce and other time-sensitive commodities. The country’s expanding manufacturing and export base is also creating additional demand for reliable international air-freight capacity.
AVIAREPS will leverage its local market presence and relationships with the freight-forwarding community to promote WestJet’s cargo services and identify new business opportunities. The GSA arrangement is expected to improve access to WestJet Cargo capacity for Indian customers and logistics providers.
WestJet Cargo provides air-freight solutions through the airline’s passenger aircraft network, enabling the carrier to connect cargo customers with destinations across Canada and international markets.
The partnership comes as airlines and cargo operators increasingly look to strengthen commercial representation in India rather than relying solely on direct sales. Local GSAs can provide market knowledge and established relationships with freight forwarders, helping carriers respond more effectively to regional cargo demand.
For Indian exporters, expanded airline representation could provide additional options for moving high-value and time-sensitive shipments to international markets. Freight forwarders are also expected to benefit from improved access to WestJet Cargo’s network and booking channels.
The appointment of AVIAREPS marks another step in WestJet’s efforts to develop its cargo business and deepen engagement with the Indian air-freight market. As India’s international cargo volumes continue to grow, the partnership could support further expansion of WestJet Cargo sales in the region.
