Global logistics and transportation solutions provider Aramex has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GMR Airports Limited (GAL) to strengthen logistics infrastructure at GMR-operated airports and improve international shipment movement for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and businesses engaged in import and export trade.
The agreement will explore opportunities to enhance Aramex’s infrastructure at express cargo terminals operated by GMR across India. Proposed facilities include dedicated truck docks, cargo screening systems and dedicated operational space, subject to the execution of a definitive agreement.
The planned infrastructure aims to improve operational efficiency, accelerate cargo processing and support in-house customs clearance for multiple international products.
The MoU was signed at GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo (GHAC) in Hyderabad as part of Aramex’s strategy to expand its logistics capabilities and strengthen cross-border trade connectivity in India.
The collaboration will also explore the development of a warehousing facility near the express cargo terminal, with dedicated airside corridor access. GMR Airports will maintain the identified infrastructure under mutually agreed terms and may facilitate coordination with relevant authorities, drawing on its technical expertise.
The proposed partnership is expected to enhance India’s international trade logistics capabilities, particularly for businesses trading with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, by improving cargo handling and facilitating more efficient international shipments.
According to the communique, both companies are working towards developing the proposed infrastructure by March 2027.
