Ocean Network Express (ONE) has introduced container reuse services in Switzerland in collaboration with Avantida, enabling transport operators to reuse import containers for export shipments.

The service is designed to reduce unnecessary empty container movements and improve the efficiency of inland logistics operations.

Under the arrangement, transport companies can use eligible import containers for export cargo instead of returning them to a depot before collecting another empty container. Known as a street turn, the practice helps reduce additional truck journeys, waiting times and transportation costs.

    Enhancing Inland Logistics Efficiency

Through Avantida’s container reuse platform, ONE customers in Switzerland can identify opportunities to connect import and export container movements more efficiently.

The initiative is expected to simplify transport planning, reduce empty container repositioning and ease congestion. Fewer empty container movements could also contribute to lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.

ONE and Avantida have previously collaborated on similar container reuse services in other markets. The Swiss launch therefore marks an expansion of their existing cooperation into another geographical market.

The companies have not disclosed specific container volumes, participating locations, implementation timelines or estimated cost savings and emission reductions for Switzerland.
