Lloyd’s Register (LR) Advisory has launched a new Supply Chain Resilience service to help ports, governments and logistics operators manage cargo disruptions and identify alternative transport routes.

Introduced on 4 November 2026 at the IAPH World Ports Conference in London, the service addresses disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions, port congestion, severe weather and infrastructure failures.

It assesses alternative routes across ports, airports, road borders and rail networks, considering capacity, costs, delays and operational risks. LR also provides 30-, 60- and 90-day response plans covering cargo prioritisation, alternative routing and additional transport capacity.

Beyond immediate disruption management, the service supports long-term logistics planning over three months to five years, including investments in dry ports, inland logistics hubs and rail-connected freight facilities.

The initiative aims to strengthen supply chain flexibility, reduce dependence on individual trade corridors and ensure the continuity of essential cargo movements.
