Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has achieved a significant operational milestone by successfully berthing a Panamax vessel at its Inner Harbour for the mechanical loading of export alumina for the first time.
The port berthed M.V. GUAN YUAN JU XING at WQ-5 Berth on November 4, 2026, for loading approximately 30,600 MT of export alumina on behalf of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO).
The successful berthing and handling of the Panamax vessel marks an important step in enhancing Visakhapatnam Port’s cargo-handling capabilities and operational efficiency.
The achievement reflects VPA’s growing infrastructure capabilities and its commitment to facilitating larger vessels, improving cargo-handling operations and strengthening India’s maritime trade connectivity.
The milestone further reinforces Visakhapatnam Port’s position as a key gateway for the country’s export trade.
