    The number of E-way bills generated in December reached 95 million, up from 87.5 million in November.

    E-way bill, which is mandatory for shipment of goods generated within and across states had hit record high of over 100 million in October on the back of festive demands.

    E-way bills are one of the key economic indicators and an indicator and high e-way bill generation usually reflect high collections of Goods and Services Tax in the next month.

    So e-way bills generated in December will be reflected in the GST collection number of January, which will be published ”

    The gross GST collections stood at Rs 1.65 trillion in GST revenue in December, marginally lower than the monthly average of Rs 1.66 trillion.
