Keeping up with its tradition of showing the human side by extending support, setting examples, and giving hope in the unprecedented time, Kerala Steamer Agents Association (KSAA) organised a blood donation drive in Cochin in collaboration with the Cochin Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCC&I), Cochin Port Hospital and Rotary Club of Cochin West.
Shri Sudarshan K.S, IPS, DY. Commissioner of Police Law and Order and Traffic inaugurated the blood donation camp. He also urged organisers to conduct these types of small initiatives for society.
While welcoming the Chief Guest and participants Shri Prakash Iyer thanked the Cochin Chamber of Commerce, Kerala Steamer Agents, IMA Blood Bank, Cochin Port Hospital, Rotary Club of Cochin West, Shipping companies, CHA’s for their support during the endeavor and for making this camp successful.
The blood donation drive led by KSAA & CCC&I collected 80 plus units of blood. The camp followed all the health advisories and social distancing norms to ensure the health and safety of the participants.
“Regular blood donation is essential, as blood has a shelf life and it can’t be preserved for perpetuity. We have organised the blood donation drive to make an earnest effort to arrange blood to patients who require blood for treatments and to create awareness of the importance of regularly donating blood. We express our heartfelt gratitude to Cochin Port Hospital for joining hands with us and thank all the donors for coming forward to make our initiative successful. We urge others to participate in blood donation to save lives,” said Shri K.S. Binu, President of Kerala Steamer Agents Association.
Vice President of Cochin Chamber of Commerce Shri. S P Kamath, sensitized and encouraged the donors by saying that blood donation is one of the most generous donations on the earth that could save someone’s precious life, light a family’s lamp, and could give bliss to a family.
“I thank Cochin Port Hospital, Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Kerala Steamer Agents Association for organising the blood donation camp and allowing me to do my bit to help someone in need of blood. The donation camp has been well-organised, and the organisers have taken utmost care to ensure the health and safety of the donors,” said Shri Prakash Iyer, Chairman, of Cochin Port Users Forum.
The camp has participated many people from the industry and a large number of students from Colleges, Universities, Cochin Port workers, staff and officials from Casino Hotel, Trident Hotel. A large number of women in logistics have participated the initiative.
Since its inception, the Kerala Steamer Agents Association (KSAA) has been working towards inclusive people-centric community development with a mission to give back to the society. Aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, the KSAA is actively working in areas such as education, environment, health, women empowerment, disaster relief and sports.
