ASYAD Container Terminal – Duqm has marked a significant operational milestone by welcoming the CMA CGM Vasco da Gama on its maiden voyage, making it the largest container vessel to call at the terminal since operations began.
With a carrying capacity of 18,000 TEUs, the arrival of the mega container ship highlights the terminal’s capability to handle the latest generation of ultra-large container vessels. The successful call demonstrates the terminal’s advanced infrastructure, adequate berth depths, and operational readiness to safely and efficiently accommodate growing global container shipping requirements.
Commenting on the milestone, Omar bin Mahmoud Al Mahrizi, CEO of ASYAD Ports and Freezones, said the vessel’s maiden call reflects the increasing confidence of leading international shipping lines in the Sultanate of Oman and showcases the terminal’s world-class operational capabilities.
