Bilbao Terminal has strengthened its operational capabilities with the addition of a new ship-to-shore (STS) crane, a move aimed at increasing handling capacity and improving vessel turnaround times. The investment forms part of the terminal’s broader strategy to enhance efficiency and support growing container traffic.

The new crane will enable Bilbao Terminal to manage larger vessels more effectively while boosting productivity across quay operations. With improved lifting reach and faster cargo handling performance, the equipment is expected to optimize berth utilization and reduce congestion during peak periods.

Terminal officials said the expansion underlines their commitment to modernizing infrastructure and delivering high-quality service to shipping lines and logistics customers. The added STS crane capacity is also set to strengthen Bilbao’s role as a key maritime gateway in northern Spain.
