Cathay Cargo recorded a 6.1% year-on-year increase in cargo tonnage in July 2026, highlighting continued strength in air freight demand across its international network.

The Hong Kong-based carrier handled higher cargo volumes during the month as demand for air freight remained supported by international trade flows, e-commerce and time-sensitive shipments.

Hong Kong continues to serve as a major global air cargo hub, connecting manufacturers, exporters and logistics providers across Asia with markets worldwide. Cathay Cargo’s extensive freighter and passenger aircraft network provides connectivity to key destinations in Asia, Europe, North America, the Middle East and beyond.

The July increase comes as airlines continue to monitor changing trade patterns and capacity requirements across the global air freight market. Stronger cargo volumes indicate that demand for fast and reliable transportation remains resilient despite uncertainty surrounding international trade and shipping costs.

Cathay Cargo has continued to focus on network development and operational efficiency while strengthening its position in key cargo markets. Higher tonnage in July provides further evidence of the importance of Hong Kong in regional and international air logistics.

The latest performance also reflects the broader role of air cargo in supporting high-value and time-sensitive supply chains. Electronics, pharmaceuticals, perishables and other urgent shipments continue to rely heavily on reliable air freight connections.

With cargo volumes rising 6.1% in July, Cathay Cargo enters the second half of 2026 with continued momentum as it responds to evolving customer demand and changing global trade flows.
