Singapore’s Changi Airport recorded nearly 10% year-on-year growth in air cargo volumes during the second quarter, reflecting resilient demand for air freight services and strengthening regional and global trade activity.
The increase was driven by higher shipments of electronics, pharmaceuticals, perishables and e-commerce cargo, alongside continued growth in cross-border trade. Strong demand across key markets in Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America also contributed to the airport’s improved cargo performance.
Changi’s extensive network of passenger and dedicated freighter services enabled efficient cargo movement despite ongoing supply chain challenges in some regions. The airport remains one of Asia’s leading air cargo hubs, serving as a vital gateway for transshipment and international logistics.
Airport authorities attributed the positive performance to recovering global trade, expanding airline capacity and close collaboration with cargo operators, freight forwarders and logistics providers. Continued investments in digitalisation, automation and cargo-handling infrastructure have further enhanced operational efficiency and service reliability.
The strong second-quarter results reinforce Changi Airport’s position as a key global air freight hub and are expected to support sustained cargo growth as demand for high-value, time-sensitive and e-commerce shipments continues to rise.
