Shri Sanjay Swarup, Chairman and Managing Director of Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR), delivered the Keynote Address at the 19th Annual Conference on “Railways in India,” organized by Indian Infrastructure in New Delhi, highlighting the company’s remarkable growth trajectory and future-ready initiatives.

Tracing CONCOR’s journey since its inception in 1988 with just seven Inland Container Depots (ICDs), Shri Swarup noted that today the organization commands a robust Pan-India presence with 190 locations, comprising 66 own terminals, 13 gateway ports, and over 100 Cargo Receiving Terminals (CRTs) and sidings. CONCOR’s expansive network is supported by 4.5 million sq. ft. of warehousing space, nearly 400 container trains, and a fleet of over 54,000 containers.

A key focus of his address was CONCOR’s seamless integration with the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) through its four Mega Terminals, which are expected to significantly boost rail-based logistics efficiency. He further outlined several pioneering initiatives, including:

Parcel Services catering to growing small cargo movements.

Global market expansion through CONCOR-owned containers for international trade.

Bulk cement movement in specially designed CONCOR tank containers, eliminating the traditional bagging process and ensuring cost-efficiency and reduced wastage.

Shri Swarup also engaged with trade representatives during the session, addressing sectoral concerns and opportunities.

Highlighting CONCOR’s digital and sustainability focus, he pointed to the adoption of AI-based operational tools, online live container train tracking systems, and the deployment of 165 LNG-fuelled trucks as part of the company’s drive towards green logistics.

“CONCOR is committed to leveraging technology, enhancing efficiency, and driving sustainable logistics solutions in line with India’s growing economic and environmental priorities,” Shri Swarup reaffirmed.

The session reinforced CONCOR’s position as a leader in the multimodal logistics sector, driving innovation and efficiency while aligning with India’s ambitious infrastructure growth story.
