Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) has signed a 15-year agreement with GAIL (India) Limited to establish a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) dispensing station at CONCOR’s Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Khodiyar, Ahmedabad, marking a significant step towards promoting cleaner fuel adoption in India’s logistics sector.
The agreement was signed on July 8 at GAIL’s corporate office in New Delhi in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
Under the agreement, GAIL will invest in, develop, own, operate and maintain the LNG dispensing station, while CONCOR will provide approximately 3,000 square metres of land within its Khodiyar ICD along with the necessary utility connections for the project.
The LNG station will operate round the clock and cater not only to CONCOR’s transportation fleet but also to heavy commercial vehicles from the open market, expanding access to cleaner fuel for the region’s logistics industry.
To support the project’s commercial viability, CONCOR has committed to deploy a dedicated fleet of 15 LNG-powered commercial vehicles from the first year of the agreement.

The initiative is expected to encourage the adoption of LNG as an alternative fuel for long-haul trucking, contributing to lower emissions and supporting the development of a greener and more sustainable logistics ecosystem in India.
