The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is working to build a stronger export ecosystem aimed at helping micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) take greater advantage of opportunities created through Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
The initiative focuses on improving awareness, access to trade information, and support mechanisms that can enable MSMEs to expand their presence in international markets. By strengthening export capabilities, the government aims to help smaller businesses overcome challenges related to compliance, market access, and global competition.
Officials said MSMEs play a critical role in India’s export growth and need better integration with global supply chains. The enhanced ecosystem is expected to provide exporters with improved guidance on FTA benefits, product opportunities, and international trade requirements.
The move aligns with India’s broader strategy to increase exports, diversify global markets, and encourage more MSMEs to participate in international trade.
