Nepal’s tea exports to India have resumed after a two-month disruption, restoring a key trade flow between the two neighbouring countries and providing relief to tea producers and exporters.

The suspension had affected shipments and created challenges for exporters, particularly those dependent on the Indian market for bulk tea sales. With export operations restarting, Nepalese tea producers are expected to regain access to Indian buyers and improve supply continuity.

Industry stakeholders welcomed the move, saying the resumption will help stabilize trade activity, support farmers, and reduce losses caused by the prolonged interruption. Exporters are now working to clear pending consignments and normalize shipment schedules.

India remains one of Nepal’s major destinations for tea exports due to geographical proximity and strong market demand. The revival of trade is expected to strengthen bilateral agricultural commerce and improve confidence among exporters on both sides.
