DHL Supply Chain has opened a new logistics centre in Halle, close to Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ), the company’s third facility in the area.
Fully operational and integrated within the larger DHL Leipzig/Halle Campus, the site is already serving its first customers.
The facility offers a total warehouse area of 34,000 sq m and has the capacity to accommodate up to 55,000 pallet spaces.
It has three operational halls, each spanning 10,500 sq m, and is equipped with 27 loading docks.
Aiste Slabokaite Heid, business unit director north-east, DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps, said: “In Halle (Saale), DHL Supply Chain delivers a comprehensive range of logistics solutions for our customers from various industries, with extensive knowledge and deep expertise in the technology sector.
“Its proximity to Leipzig Airport (LEJ) enables late cut-off times of 10:30 p.m. for next-day global deliveries.
“Our offerings range from warehousing and picking – including hazardous materials and batteries – to value-added services and complex automated solutions.”
The facility is said by DHL to benefit from good multi-modal transport connections, including access to the national DHL parcel and express network, the surrounding rail and road network, as well as its proximity to LEJ, home to DHL Express’s largest airfreight hub handling global air cargo shipments.

Plans to develop a new air cargo facility at LEJ were announced this summer by global logistics real estate developer, Realterm.
