Amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions and war-related disruptions in the Gulf region—an area crucial to India’s import and export sector—Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) has achieved a significant milestone by handling 150 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo 18 days earlier than last year, strengthening its position among the leading major ports of the country.

On this occasion, a joint delegation led by Shri Teja Kangad, President of the Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Kandla Tank Farm Owners Association (KTFA), met DPA Chairman Shri Sushil Kumar Singh on March 14, 2026, and congratulated him on behalf of both organizations.

Shri Teja Kangad stated that despite the global challenges arising from the prevailing war situation and geopolitical changes in the Gulf countries, the Port Authority has demonstrated exceptional operational excellence and resilience. He credited the achievement to the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal and the able guidance of DPA Chairman Shri Sushil Kumar Singh.

He also appreciated the commendable efforts of the Traffic Managers, officers from all departments, port employees, trade unions, and workers whose collective dedication ensured efficient logistics management and uninterrupted maritime services.

During a joint meeting with port users, Shri Kangad appealed to all stakeholders to make special efforts in the remaining days of March to maximize cargo handling and work collectively towards achieving the ambitious target of 160 MMT by March 31, 2026, setting another historic milestone for Deendayal Port Authority.

He emphasized that achieving this target would contribute significantly to strengthening the nation’s economy and support Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.” He further stated that the port is fully equipped to handle additional ship traffic and urged all users to actively participate in achieving this milestone.

Hon. Secretary Shri Mahesh Tirthani also praised the excellent leadership, strategic vision, and dedicated efforts of the Chairman and the entire port team for achieving this remarkable milestone and conveyed best wishes on behalf of the trade community.

Responding to the appreciation, DPA Chairman Shri Sushil Kumar Singh thanked all port users for their continuous contribution towards achieving the 150 MMT target. He expressed confidence in reaching the 160 MMT target within the next 17 days and called upon all stakeholders to work together to set a new record.

He assured that the Port Administration is fully prepared and equipped to achieve this goal and encouraged collective participation to create another historic achievement for Deendayal Port Authority.

The joint delegation included Shri Teja Kangad (President), Shri Jatin Agarwal (Hon. Joint Secretary), Shri Kailesh Gor (Treasurer), Shri Navneet Gajjar (MC Member), Shri Romesh Chaturani (Vice President, KTFA), and Shri Dinesh Singhania (Hon. Secretary).
