Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has submitted a representation to Nirmala Sitharaman seeking urgent policy intervention to safeguard genuine taxpayers facing denial of Input Tax Credit (ITC) under the GST regime due to supplier-level irregularities.

GCCI President Teja Kangad stated that several compliant businesses are being denied legitimate ITC despite possessing valid invoices, making payments through banking channels, and fulfilling statutory requirements. The Chamber expressed concern over retrospective GST registration cancellations and increasing litigation affecting MSMEs and trade.

GCCI has urged the Government and GST Council to amend Section 16 of the CGST Act and introduce a technology-driven validation mechanism to protect honest taxpayers from third-party defaults. The press note was issued by GCCI Hon. Secretary Mahesh Tirthani.
