Hyundai Glovis is strengthening its presence in the global automotive logistics sector by securing a series of transportation contracts with Chinese manufacturers, expanding its non-affiliate business beyond the Hyundai Motor Group.
The company has signed a new contract with a leading Chinese battery manufacturer to transport electric vehicle (EV) batteries by sea from South China to automotive production hubs in Hungary, Spain and Italy.
Earlier this year, Hyundai Glovis also secured contracts to transport knockdown (KD) auto parts and press plant equipment for major Chinese EV manufacturers. Under these agreements, shipments are moved by sea from East China to Slovenia and Croatia before being delivered by truck to manufacturing facilities across Eastern Europe through an end-to-end logistics solution.
The company has also won a contract from a Chinese automaker to handle vehicle disassembly and packaging operations. Finished vehicles produced in China are inspected, disassembled, packed into containers and transported via the Trans-China Railway (TCR) to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Hyundai Glovis said these operations leverage its global container forwarding network, enabling integrated logistics services from origin to destination.
In addition to container logistics, the company is expanding its finished vehicle shipping business using pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs). The volume of vehicles transported by sea from China on PCTCs nearly doubled over the past three years, rising from approximately 260,000 units in 2023 to around 510,000 units in 2025.
To further strengthen its project logistics capabilities, Hyundai Glovis recently established a dedicated high and heavy cargo division targeting transportation of construction equipment and industrial machinery, particularly from China, the world’s largest producer of such equipment.
The company said the latest contracts support its strategy of expanding non-affiliate business. Hyundai Glovis has set a target of achieving 40 trillion won in revenue by 2030 by increasing logistics services for customers outside its parent group while continuing to prioritize affiliate cargo.
“We are providing shippers with a highly efficient end-to-end logistics supply chain connecting factories in China with manufacturing facilities in Eastern Europe,” a Hyundai Glovis official said, adding that the company will continue expanding logistics partnerships with mobility-related companies worldwide.
