India Post is planning to introduce premium 24-hour and 48-hour delivery options under its Speed Post service to enhance parcel delivery efficiency and compete with private courier operators in the fast-growing logistics sector.

The proposed service will provide customers with time-bound delivery guarantees for documents and parcels across key domestic routes. Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen the postal department’s position in the express logistics market while improving reliability for businesses and e-commerce shipments.

The move is also expected to support quicker movement of important documents, commercial consignments and small cargo between major cities. By offering faster delivery timelines, India Post hopes to attract corporate clients and online sellers who require dependable express shipping services.

Industry observers note that the premium Speed Post options could improve last-mile connectivity across India’s extensive postal network while supporting the growing demand for time-sensitive logistics solutions.
