In a major step towards sustainable logistics, the Delhi Inland Container Terminal in Sonepat has inaugurated India’s first public heavy-duty commercial vehicle battery swapping-cum-charging station. The event, held on 8 October 2025, also marked the flagging off of the EIM–Foton electric swappable heavy-duty tractor-trailer, ushering in a new era of green freight movement.
The occasion was graced by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, and Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy, Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, whose presence underscored the government’s commitment to cleaner transportation and green mobility infrastructure.
With this milestone, Delhi Inland Container Terminal becomes the first terminal in North India to adopt a large-scale sustainable logistics model, integrating electric heavy vehicles with fast battery swapping to enhance operational efficiency while reducing emissions.
This initiative is expected to serve as a benchmark for the freight and logistics sector, promoting cleaner, smarter, and more efficient transportation solutions across the country.
