India’s gem and jewellery exports recorded a 3.14% increase in August, supported by strong growth in studded gold jewellery shipments, highlighting improving demand for Indian jewellery products in international markets.

The rise comes as the country’s gems and jewellery sector continues to navigate changing global consumer demand, precious metal prices and economic uncertainties. The growth in gold jewellery exports provides a positive signal for manufacturers and exporters seeking to strengthen their overseas business.

Studded gold jewellery emerged as a key contributor to the sector’s August performance. The increase in shipments reflects opportunities for Indian jewellery exporters to expand their presence in international markets and improve export earnings.

India’s gems and jewellery industry remains an important contributor to merchandise exports, with cut and polished diamonds, gold jewellery, coloured gemstones and other precious metal products forming a major part of the sector’s export basket.

Exporters are closely monitoring demand in major markets, including the United States, the United Arab Emirates and other international destinations. Market conditions, gold prices and consumer spending are expected to remain important factors influencing the sector’s performance in the coming months.

The August growth offers some encouragement to the industry, although sustained export expansion will depend on global demand and the ability of Indian exporters to remain competitive.

The latest figures underline the continuing importance of jewellery exports to India’s broader trade outlook and the sector’s efforts to maintain growth amid evolving international market conditions.
