The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) has signed the delivery protocol for MV Kevat, one of six eco-friendly 50-passenger hybrid-electric catamaran vessels built by Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited (HCSL), at the HCSL yard in Howrah, West Bengal.

Equipped with hybrid-electric propulsion and a modern passenger-friendly design, MV Kevat and the other vessels are aimed at promoting cleaner, low-emission inland water transport and supporting India’s transition towards greener mobility.

The project marks another step in strengthening a sustainable and environmentally friendly inland waterways ecosystem in the country.
