Maersk has announced an increase in its cooling service charges for refrigerated containers moving to and from Ecuador, raising the applicable fee by US$10 per container.
The Destination Cooling Service (DGS) for reefer containers imported from worldwide origins into Ecuador will increase from US$130 to US$140 per container. The revised charge applies to store-door import deliveries in Ecuador.
Maersk is also increasing its Origin Cooling Service (OGS) for reefer exports from Ecuador to worldwide destinations. The charge will similarly rise from US$130 to US$140 per container.
For regulated countries, the revised destination charge will take effect from September 27, 2026. For non-regulated countries, the effective date is August 29, 2026, according to Maersk’s rate announcement.
The adjustment applies to all reefer container types and is calculated on a per-container basis. Maersk said the revision is intended to support its continued service portfolio and operational reliability.
The increase adds to the range of local charges faced by Ecuador’s refrigerated cargo sector, where reliable temperature-controlled handling is particularly important for exporters and importers of perishables and other temperature-sensitive goods.
Maersk customers shipping reefer cargo to or from Ecuador will therefore need to account for the revised cooling service charge in their logistics and landed-cost calculations.
