India has exported its first-ever strawberry consignment from Odisha, marking a new milestone for the state’s horticulture sector. The inaugural shipment of 51 kg of fresh strawberries was sent to international markets, showcasing Odisha’s growing capability in high-value fruit exports.

The strawberries were cultivated by farmers in the state with support from government agencies, focusing on quality standards, cold-chain handling, and export-grade packaging. Officials said the successful shipment opens new income opportunities for farmers and encourages diversification into premium crops.

The export is part of broader efforts to boost agricultural exports from eastern India and integrate local farmers into global supply chains, with plans to scale up strawberry cultivation and overseas shipments in coming seasons.
