    State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) has called bids to hire a push pull tug of 70-tonne bollard pull capacity with towing capabilities for three years.

    The tugs participating in the tender should not be more than 21 years old, the company said in the tender which is limited to Indian bidders. Bids from consortium of companies will not be considered.

    Bidders have time until August 29 to submit the documents.

    The ship owner (contractor) must ensure strict compliance to D G Shipping guidelines and rules governing competency of crew. The vessel should be operated with competent and authorised personnel only, ONGC said in the tender documents.

    The tug will be used to carry out Single Buoy Mooring (SBM) pull back operations in offshore, berthing and unberthing activity of the off-take tanker with storage tanker, support tanker push/pull back, tanker change over duties, tandem mooring operations and ship-to-ship (STS) operation.

    The vessel will support tanker operation activities such as safety standby duties, towing, cargo and personnel transfer, carry out tanker holding operations and support activities in offshore field, rig towing operations from offshore field/Indian Port/Shipyard to any offshore field/Indian Port/Shipyard.

    Further, it will be used for rescue operations including firefighting in offshore, carry out routine surveillance in offshore for safety and security reasons, assist in mooring daughter vessel to mother vessel and securing to SBM, assist in exigencies including towing of vessels in distress.
