V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, has reported a robust growth in gypsum cargo handling, registering a significant 63.57% year-on-year increase during the April–December 2025 period compared to the corresponding months in 2024.

The sharp rise highlights growing industrial demand for gypsum, a key raw material for the cement and construction sectors. Port officials attribute the strong performance to efficient bulk cargo operations, streamlined logistics, and enhanced operational capabilities at the port.

The increase also reflects VOC Port’s continued focus on improving turnaround times, strengthening infrastructure, and providing reliable services to trade and industry. With sustained demand from domestic industries and improved handling efficiencies, the port is well-positioned to further strengthen its role as a vital hub for bulk cargo movement on India’s east coast.

The growth in gypsum volumes reinforces VOC Port’s contribution to regional industrial development and underscores its importance in supporting India’s expanding infrastructure and manufacturing sectors.
