The Rhenus Group has announced three major leadership appointments in its Air & Ocean division to strengthen its global operations and drive regional growth. Effective 1 August 2025, Joachim Hanssen has taken charge as Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific (APAC),
overseeing Greater China, Central Asia and Turkey. Alberto Martinez will become Chief Executive Officer, Europe (EU) from 1 October 2025, while Renee Toh will assume the role of Vice President Global Ocean Freight from 25 September 2025.
The appointments are part of a broader transformation aimed at aligning leadership with changing market needs and enhancing customerfocused solutions across key regions.
Hanssen, who has been with Rhenus for over 20 years, has played a key role in expanding the company’s presence in Asia. His experience in operational excellence and regional growth is expected to bring greater strategic cohesion to APAC operations.
Martinez, currently Vice President Global Ocean Freight, has led the development of Rhenus’ global ocean freight strategy, expanded trade lanes, and built strong carrier partnerships. He will succeed Markus Lingohr, who will retire in 2026, with a structured handover already underway.
Toh, who previously served as Head of Global Ocean Freight Procurement at CEVA Logistics, brings over two decades of global ocean freight and trade management experience. Her appointment underscores Rhenus’ focus on strengthening its global product strategy and improving service delivery.
