Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) achieved a milestone on 8 October 2025 by handling a single unit of breakbulk cargo measuring 90 feet in length and weighing 280.02 tonnes — the longest Over-Dimensional Cargo (ODC) ever handled at its General Cargo Berth (GCB).

The project cargo, a Heat Boiler shipped from Constanta, Romania, was imported by L&T Energy Hydrocarbon, Kattupalli.

The Marine Department ensured safe unloading by following safety SOPs and deploying stabiliser pontoons, while the Traffic Division enabled smooth evacuation using an 18-axle long trailer after clearing internal port roads.

KPL Managing Director, Smt. J.P. Irene Cynthia, IAS, commended NTC Logistics (CHA), Sai Shipping (Shipping Agent), and Success Shipping (Stevedore) for their seamless coordination in executing the operation.

With this accomplishment, KPL reaffirms its capability in handling complex project cargo with safety, precision and teamwork.
