CMA CGM has announced a significant milestone in its gender diversity efforts, revealing that it has doubled the number of female seafarers within its fleet over the past year. The achievement comes as part of the group’s broader commitment to building a more inclusive maritime workforce.

According to the company, targeted recruitment, enhanced training pathways, and onboard support initiatives have played a key role in attracting more women to seafaring roles traditionally dominated by men. With the latest progress, CMA CGM is now setting even more ambitious goals for 2026, aiming to further expand opportunities for women across deck, engine, and operational roles.

The group reiterated that fostering diversity is central to strengthening safety, performance , and innovation across its global operations. CMA CGM said it will continue investing in mentorship programmes, career advancement support, and awareness initiatives to ensure long-term retention and growth of women in maritime careers.

The milestone underscores the ongoing transformation within the global shipping industry as major carriers push for greater gender representation at sea.
