CMA CGM has strengthened its strategic partnership with the Port of Colombo, reinforcing its presence in one of South Asia’s key transshipment hubs.

The collaboration is expected to enhance operational efficiency, improve connectivity, and support higher cargo volumes through the port. Colombo plays a critical role in regional trade, acting as a major gateway for container traffic in the Indian Ocean.

As part of the expanded ties, CMA CGM is likely to increase vessel calls, optimise service networks, and explore further investments in port infrastructure and logistics solutions. The move aligns with the carrier’s strategy to strengthen its footprint across major global trade lanes.

Officials noted that the partnership will also benefit regional supply chains by offering improved transit times and more reliable services for exporters and importers across South Asia.

The development underscores the growing importance of the Port of Colombo as a strategic hub, while highlighting CMA CGM’s continued focus on building long-term collaborations to support global trade growth.
