Dr. Manoj Singh, an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer of the 1989 batch, has assumed charge as Member (Operations & Business Development) of the Railway Board, bringing with him over three decades of experience in railway operations, logistics, policy formulation, and business strategy.
A Ph.D. in Transport Economics and a Commonwealth Scholar, Dr. Singh has held several key leadership positions across Indian Railways and related institutions. His career includes significant assignments in railway operations, commercial management, freight transportation, multimodal logistics, infrastructure planning, and organizational transformation.
Prior to his latest appointment, Dr. Singh served in various senior roles, including as Divisional Railway Manager of Jabalpur, and contributed extensively to organizations such as Indian Railways, Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), the Planning Commission, and the Railway Board.
His appointment comes at a pivotal time as Indian Railways accelerates efforts to expand freight transportation, strengthen logistics integration, enhance customer-centric services, drive digital transformation, and modernize infrastructure.
Industry observers believe Dr. Singh’s expertise in both operational management and business development will play a key role in improving efficiency, boosting competitiveness, and supporting the railway sector’s long-term growth objectives.
