Hong Kong Air Cargo has announced the launch of charter flight operations to Mumbai, strengthening air freight connectivity between Hong Kong and India’s commercial capital. The new service is aimed at supporting rising cargo demand on the Hong Kong–India corridor and providing additional capacity for time-sensitive shipments.
The carrier said the charter flights will cater to a wide range of cargo, including electronics, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce shipments, automotive components, perishables, and high-value goods. Mumbai’s position as a major manufacturing and distribution hub is expected to generate strong demand for both inbound and outbound freight services.
The new operations are also expected to offer Indian exporters faster access to Hong Kong’s extensive global cargo network, enabling smoother onward connections to key markets across East Asia, Southeast Asia, North America, and Europe.
Industry observers said the addition of dedicated charter capacity comes at a time when trade volumes between India and East Asia are continuing to grow, driven by manufacturing diversification, expanding e-commerce activity, and increasing demand for reliable air cargo services.
Hong Kong Air Cargo noted that the Mumbai charters form part of its broader strategy to expand its presence in the Indian market and enhance operational flexibility for customers requiring customized freight solutions.
The service is expected to provide shippers and freight forwarders with greater scheduling flexibility and additional capacity during peak cargo periods, while further strengthening Mumbai’s role as a key gateway for international air freight.
