UAE-based Global Feeder Shipping (GFS) has launched a new container service linking key Egyptian ports with northern Italy, further strengthening maritime connectivity between the Eastern Mediterranean and the Adriatic region.
According to shipping intelligence provider DynaLiners, the new Adriatic East–Med (AES) service will operate on the rotation:
Port Said – Damietta – Koper – Venice – Port Said
The service will be deployed with vessels of approximately 1,800 TEU capacity, providing regular feeder connectivity for cargo moving between Egypt and the northern Adriatic markets.
The new service is expected to improve transit options for exporters and importers by offering enhanced connectivity and additional feeder solutions for regional trade, supporting growing cargo volumes between the Eastern Mediterranean and Europe.
DynaLiners also reported that Hapag-Lloyd has secured slot allocations on the AES service, which the German shipping line will market under the name ADX. The carrier has already started promoting the service alongside its recently introduced Intra Adriatic Service (IAS), connecting Venice, Ancona and Rijeka.
The launch reflects the continued focus of container shipping lines on expanding regional feeder networks, improving service flexibility, and strengthening cargo flows between Mediterranean and Adriatic markets amid evolving trade patterns.
