India’s wool and textile exports to Australia have recorded strong growth over the past four years following the implementation of the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA). The trade pact has improved market access by reducing or eliminating tariffs on a wide range of textile products, enabling Indian exporters to strengthen their presence in the Australian market.

The agreement has particularly benefited manufacturers of apparel, home textiles, and wool-based products by enhancing their competitiveness against rival suppliers. Industry stakeholders attribute the export growth to increased demand, preferential tariff treatment, and deeper commercial ties between the two countries.

Exporters expect the momentum to continue as businesses leverage the trade agreement to diversify markets, expand product offerings, and tap growing opportunities in Australia’s premium textile and fashion segments. The sustained rise in exports also reflects the strengthening economic partnership between India and Australia under the ECTA framework.
