Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) has commenced a new containerised cargo movement service connecting Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) Varnama with Pipavav Port, strengthening rail-based connectivity between the industrial hinterland of Gujarat and a key gateway to international markets.

The new service will facilitate the movement of export cargo by rail to APM Terminals Pipavav, providing exporters and importers in the region with a reliable and efficient link to global trade routes.

The initiative is expected to offer an alternative to conventional road transportation, helping improve logistics efficiency while supporting more sustainable and environmentally friendly cargo movement.

The new rail connection is also aligned with the objectives of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, which seeks to integrate different modes of transportation and improve multimodal connectivity across the country.

By connecting MMLP Varnama directly with Pipavav Port, CONCOR is further strengthening the integration between inland logistics infrastructure and India’s maritime gateways. The service is expected to support smoother cargo evacuation, improve supply-chain efficiency and enhance the competitiveness of regional exporters.

The development underscores CONCOR’s continued focus on expanding its rail freight network and strengthening port-hinterland connectivity, while contributing to India’s broader multimodal logistics and Ease of Doing Business objectives.

With improved access to Pipavav Port, businesses in the surrounding industrial and commercial regions can benefit from an additional rail-linked gateway for accessing international markets.
