The Chennai Division of Southern Railway has crossed the ₹5,000 crore earnings milestone during FY26, reflecting strong growth in passenger and freight revenue.

The division recorded an 8.84% increase in overall earnings compared with the previous financial year. The performance was supported by steady passenger traffic, improved freight movement and higher revenue generation across its operations.

The milestone highlights the Chennai Division’s growing contribution to Southern Railway’s overall financial performance. Continued improvements in railway infrastructure, service capacity and operational efficiency are expected to support further growth in the coming years.

The strong FY26 results also underline Chennai’s importance as a major railway hub for passenger and freight movement in southern India.
