Montra Electric, the electric commercial vehicle brand and electric tractor manufacturer from the Murugappa Group, has deployed seven E-45 electric tractors at Action TESA’s manufacturing facility in Visakhapatnam, marking a step towards sustainable industrial logistics in the manufacturing sector.

The deployment introduces electric mobility into the Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) manufacturing industry, replacing conventional diesel-powered vehicles used for the movement of materials within the facility.

According to company estimates, the transition is expected to save approximately 50,000 litres of diesel annually and avoid 131 tonnes of tailpipe carbon dioxide emissions. The initiative is also projected to deliver annual operating cost savings of around ₹40 lakh.

Commenting on the deployment, Montra Electric Managing Director Jalaj Gupta said the MDF and plywood industry offers significant potential for integrating clean energy solutions into material handling operations.

Action TESA Managing Director Vivek Jain said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to evaluating sustainable alternatives that reduce dependence on diesel while maintaining operational performance.

The deployment highlights the growing adoption of electric commercial vehicles beyond conventional road transportation, with industrial facilities increasingly exploring electrification of internal material handling and logistics operations to reduce fuel consumption, operating costs and emissions.
