Allcargo Logistics Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to the growth of the Varanasi handloom cluster, a key hub for the production of globally renowned Banarasi silk sarees and other handloom products. The cluster supports thousands of weavers, traders and MSMEs, forming a vital part of India’s cultural and economic landscape.
The company currently serves several hundred customers in Varanasi, including small-scale weavers, traders, established saree manufacturers and exporters. Through its domestic supply chain, express distribution and consultative logistics services, Allcargo offers end-to-end solutions such as door-to-door pickup and delivery, along with value-added services like cash-on-delivery (COD). These offerings help businesses ensure secure payments, reduce credit risks and improve working capital cycles.
Allcargo connects Varanasi to a vast distribution network spanning thousands of pin codes across major markets, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Surat and Ahmedabad.
Under its Varanasi cluster operating model, consignments are consolidated and routed through a central transshipment hub in Lucknow. From there, shipments are distributed to major transshipment centres such as Mumbai, Bengaluru and Guwahati before final delivery to retailers and wholesalers, ensuring a seamless, integrated logistics network.
In addition to core transportation services, Allcargo provides multimodal logistics solutions, shipment tracking and visibility tools, insurance coverage for high-value consignments, reverse logistics and specialised handling for delicate handloom products.
Commenting on the initiative, Ketan Kulkarni, Managing Director & CEO of Allcargo Logistics, said the company is proud to support the Varanasi handloom cluster, which reflects a unique blend of India’s cultural heritage and entrepreneurial spirit. He emphasised that reliable, secure and timely delivery is critical for businesses dealing in high-value products such as handloom sarees, and noted that Allcargo’s technology-enabled and customer-centric solutions are helping MSMEs expand their reach with confidence.
Located on the banks of the Ganges, Varanasi is not only a major spiritual centre but also a longstanding hub of handloom excellence. The sector continues to support a large artisan base and plays a crucial role in the region’s socio-economic fabric.
Shipments from the cluster are typically small in size but high in value, requiring secure handling and efficient logistics. Allcargo addresses these needs through a hub-and-spoke model supported by regional hubs, branch offices and line-haul connectivity, with road transport forming the backbone and air services used for time-sensitive deliveries.
The company has reported consistent year-on-year growth in customer onboarding and shipment volumes from the Varanasi cluster, driven by increasing trust in its services and expanding network reach. Its logistics support has enabled businesses to move beyond traditional markets, improve delivery reliability and adopt more organised, scalable operations.
Going forward, Allcargo Logistics plans to further strengthen its presence in Varanasi and similar MSME clusters by enhancing route efficiency, expanding service coverage and capacity, and investing in technology-driven solutions and infrastructure.
