    Japanese shipping major Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has appointed Rajesh Unni, Founder and Executive Chairman of Synergy Marine Group, to its advisory board.

    MOL, the world’s second-largest ship owner by fleet size, said the advisory board has been constituted to bring in external expertise on key priority areas, particularly management strategy and risk management.

    Synergy Marine Group is currently the world’s third-largest ship management firm, employing more than 20,000 seafarers globally.

    India-born Capt. Unni is an alumnus of Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program and has been a prominent figure in maritime innovation. He co-founded Alpha Ori Technologies in 2017, which later merged with ZeroNorth to create a leading maritime optimisation platform.

    Alpha Ori Technologies was established to digitally enable maritime operations using advanced technologies such as IoT, machine learning and cloud-based big data analytics, aimed at improving efficiency, enabling remote operations and enhancing onboard safety.
