Bahri, Saudi Arabia’s national shipping company, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Bonded Zone at Jeddah Islamic Port, reinforcing the Kingdom’s ambition to become a leading global logistics hub under its Vision 2030 strategy.
The facility was officially inaugurated by H.E. Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, marking a major milestone in the implementation of Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
Developed to enhance supply chain efficiency and operational flexibility, the bonded zone is designed to streamline cargo movement, accelerate customs-related processes, and enable businesses to respond more effectively to changing market demands. The project is expected to strengthen logistics capabilities across multiple industries while supporting domestic and international trade.
Spread across more than 95,000 square metres, the facility provides a storage capacity of over 80,000 pallet positions and is capable of handling up to one million pallets annually. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the bonded zone is equipped with 34 loading and unloading bays, ensuring seamless cargo handling and uninterrupted logistics operations.
In line with Bahri’s sustainability commitments, around 20% of the facility’s operational energy requirements are met through solar power, contributing to the development of environmentally responsible logistics infrastructure.
Bahri said the new bonded zone will improve supply chain resilience by offering businesses greater operational efficiency, optimized inventory management, and enhanced cargo handling capabilities within one of the Kingdom’s busiest maritime gateways.
The inauguration further strengthens the strategic position of Jeddah Islamic Port as a regional logistics and distribution hub, supporting Saudi Arabia’s efforts to expand global trade connectivity, attract investment, and build world-class logistics infrastructure that meets the evolving needs of international commerce.
